Investment Analyst

Job Description:

The role as an Investment Analyst at All Star Financial provides a fantastic career opportunity to use your insight and knowledge in a variety of investment-related areas such as manager research and due diligence, performance reporting, portfolio construction and portfolio management. The investment analyst works directly with the portfolio manager (PM) to support the management of the firm’s discretionary model portfolios and to manage the firm’s trading activities. In addition, the analyst will provide analytical support to Senior Wealth Advisors.

 

Responsibilities:

Investment Research and Performance Evaluation

  • Maintains and updates proprietary quantitative Microsoft Excel models
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative investment manager research and due diligence
  • Provides ongoing portfolio modeling and construction research to assist PM in managing firm’s model portfolios
  • Manages the firm’s proprietary quantitative search and evaluation Microsoft Excel model used in the mutual fund selection process
  • Prepares daily, monthly, and quarterly performance evaluation reporting
  • Conducts statistical research and modeling

Trading

  • Manages and executes all the processes and procedures of the trading platform (Fidelity, Schwab)
  • Reviews, determines and executes daily client cash flow needs, client dollar cost average investing, rebalancing, and ad hoc trading tasks
  • Maintains, improves and updates excel trading models

Portfolio Construction and Administration

  • Setup and maintains model portfolios across multiple software systems (Morningstar, Black Diamond, Fidelity, Schwab)
  • Works with Advisors and client support person to ensure that new and existing accounts are setup and maintained in custodial systems (Fidelity & Schwab) and reporting system (Black Diamond)

401(k) / Retirement Plan Reporting

  • Maintains and enhances retirement plan reporting process using Morningstar Direct and proprietary Microsoft Excel models
  • Works with Retirement Plan Advisors to prepare quarterly reports provided to retirement plans, clients, and participants
  • Prepares quarterly performance reports, which includes summarizing mutual fund performance in concise written form

Requirements:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer
  • Bachelor’s Degree with ongoing education in investments or finance
  • Advanced skills and experience using Microsoft Excel, including extensive use of Excel functions
  • Strong analytical skills and a high degree of attention to detail, accountability, and professionalism
  • Self-motivated with a desire and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Prior trading experience is preferred
  • Morningstar Direct experience is preferred
  • Basic understanding of traditional investment asset classes
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills
  • Team player with strong work ethic
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
